Determined after assessment

You do not need to own a business or buy ongoing accounting to get help with an IRS matter.
One licensed CPA firm. One relationship, managed for you.
Why Corridor
A firm built around the work in front of you.
Business accounting, tax resolution, and retirement, estate, and trust work each call for different experience. Corridor Consulting brings that experience together in one licensed CPA firm and manages the relationship for you.
The right experience for the work
We staff each engagement with professionals whose experience fits it, whether that is monthly accounting, an IRS matter, or an estate or trust.
One relationship, managed for you
Your engagement is with the firm. A designated client manager coordinates questions, documents, and requests, so you are not chasing answers.
Clear responsibilities
Each engagement states what we handle, what you handle, and what your other professionals handle, before the work begins.
Coordination with your professionals
We work alongside your attorney, financial advisor, and fiduciaries. Attorneys handle legal advice, estate documents, and legal administration.
Who leads the firm
Started by a family business. Built for yours.
“My interest in business began with my family’s business, where I saw how financial challenges, IRS levies, and payroll disruptions could affect an entire operation.”

From our Google reviews
What clients say about working with us.
-
We faced some medical related back-tax issues that were only made worse by another company. After that experience, I was hesitant to trust anyone again, but James at Corridor Consulting changed that. We took a leap of faith with him, and I’m so glad we did. There’s a saying that a good accountant will save you more than they cost, and James absolutely proved that. He gave us peace of mind and an affordable solution to a problem that had felt like a burden for far too long.

I've looked for a CPA that fit my needs for 2 months, and was starting to get gray hairs. James was super welcoming, enthusiastic, and quick to share that he had understanding. Whether that was with my needs or something adjacent, demonstrating a basic understanding of my industry, or mentioning random, one off ways that he can also help.
James seems to do this for the love of the game, and all the right reasons. I'm excited to begin working with him.

Great experience with Mr. James. It is hard to find a CPA who not only has great knowledge and expertise, but also has the willingness to do his best for his clients. He will thoroughly help his clients understand and navigate through complex tax situations such as tax debt, collections, crypto, and any other scenarios that may have multiple, nuanced options available to the clients. I highly recommend working with Mr. James, especially if you have complex tax issues.

Questions
Before you start.
Straight answers to what people ask before a Discovery Chat.
Do I need to own a business to work with you?
No. We help individuals and businesses with IRS matters, and we help retirees, people planning a wealth transfer, executors, trustees, beneficiaries, and families. Business Solutions is a separate service for owners and self-employed people.
Can you help with an IRS notice or unfiled returns?
Yes. Select Tax Resolution in the questionnaire. We review the facts, records, compliance needs, and possible next steps. Available options depend on your circumstances, and no particular IRS outcome or debt reduction is guaranteed.
Do you help with retirement tax planning?
Yes. We provide tax guidance for retirees and people planning retirement, including retirement income, inherited assets, and wealth transfer. We coordinate with your other professionals as appropriate. We do not provide investment management.
What if I am an executor or responsible for an existing trust?
Select Estate, Trust & Legacy in the questionnaire and describe your role. We discuss the records, tax filings, accounting needs, states involved, and the support that fits. Your attorney handles legal advice and legal administration.
Will you work with my attorney, financial advisor, or bookkeeper?
Yes. We coordinate with attorneys, financial advisors, bookkeepers, and other professionals as appropriate. The proposed engagement states our responsibilities and the work others handle.
Who will I work with?
You engage Corridor Consulting as a firm. We assign professionals whose experience fits your situation, and a designated client manager coordinates questions, documents, and requests throughout the engagement.
Do you work with clients outside Iowa?
Yes. Corridor Consulting is an Iowa CPA firm headquartered in Cedar Rapids, and we work with clients nationwide, in multiple states. Meetings are remote. During the Discovery Chat we review the states involved, complexity, and scope to confirm the fit.
What happens during the complimentary Discovery Chat?
After the questionnaire, you schedule a 30-minute meeting on Google Meet, with phone dial-in available. We discuss your needs, complexity, fit, and next steps. The conversation does not establish a client relationship or provide individualized tax, accounting, legal, or investment advice.
How are scope and pricing determined?
We review what you need, then explain the recommended support, responsibilities, and investment before you engage us. The starting process depends on the work. Ongoing Business Solutions begins with the 90-day Pathway to Prosperity™ onboarding, and other services follow processes suited to their scope and deadlines.
